Reflections:
The goal today was to think of activities to do in doorways vs design a doorway. Doorways are a critical component of architecture. They are the threshold conveying you from one environment to another - inside/outside, private/intimate, small/grand, noisy/quiet, etc. Upon reflection, it would be another exercise to do a walk and discover different types of doorways with the eye towards what kinds of play they afford us. Bookmark this idea for future Walk-n-Talks.
Happy to try another Substack livestream. I love drawing. Especially this kind of loose and fast type of sketching. I feel much more like I am drawing FOR you because its being streamed into the ether - even if you don’t join live…there is the recording. Now, while writing this up, I have this feeling like after a great conversation, an energy boost, that feels great. / Me alegra probar otra transmisión en vivo de Substack. Me encanta dibujar. Especialmente este tipo de bocetos sueltos y rápidos. Siento mucho más que estoy dibujando PARA ustedes. Incluso si no se unen en vivo... está la grabación. OMG, sorry for the terrible audio feedback at the beginning. There is a slight delay in the livestream so it is super awkward to make adjustments. Seems the music came through fine after I muted my laptop, yet was louder than I expected! jaja. Living in beta! / Dios mío, perdón por el terrible feedback de audio al principio. The video also seemed blurry at one point…but it was only on my end. I haven’t figured out how to zoom the livestream while on my phone. Instead, I brought things closer to the camera and spoke about them. / El vídeo también se veía borroso en un momento dado... pero solo en mi dispositivo. No he averiguado cómo ampliar la transmisión en directo desde mi teléfono. En su lugar, acerqué los objetos a la cámara y hablé sobre ellos.
I tried to talk more and think out loud but it is almost impossible to imagine an idea and also speak about it at the same time. I tried to speak just as the idea emerged. / Intenté hablar más y pensar en voz alta, pero es casi imposible imaginar una idea y hablar de ella al mismo tiempo. Intenté hablar justo cuando surgía la idea.
In the future, I might start drawing whatever comes to mind and think out loud as it emerges. Could be a mess. It’s definitely a skill to develop. / En el futuro, quizá empiece a dibujar lo primero que se me ocurra y a pensar en voz alta a medida que surja. Puede que sea un desastre. Sin duda, es una habilidad que hay que desarrollar.
This type of drawing I’ve been doing uses an efficiency of lines. The area of focus has the most details while the context or environment is only slightly suggested. Getting that balance with ink takes a moment of forethought. I’m curious how it will emerge if I just draw whatever is coming to mind. / Este tipo de dibujo que he estado haciendo utiliza la eficiencia de las líneas. El área de enfoque tiene la mayor cantidad de detalles, mientras que el contexto o el entorno solo se sugiere ligeramente. Lograr ese equilibrio con la tinta requiere un momento de reflexión previa. Tengo curiosidad por saber cómo quedará si simplemente dibujo lo que se me ocurra.
